The Renaissance Art Themes

Artists in the renaissance time period often did things very similar or sticked to certain techniques when painting or sculpting.

-Marble

When sculpting Artists used marble. Marble can last extremely long and makes a whole solid base for them to use their tools on. Marble made the building process all worth it in the end because it can never rot or easily broken.



- Religion

Religion was a constant theme in renaissance Art. All artists their beliefs to be shown or represented in paintings. Artists often made art for their local churches which made them look extra ordinary. Christianity was known and shown in the renaissance time period, which led to some of the most known paintings based on it.

- Individualism Art in this time period mostly focused on one individual person than a whole group. Artists like Leonardo Da Vinci made the Mona Lisa which focused on one woman. Also, MichelAngelo made a sculpture on David which was just one man.

-Classicalism

The art that was made was very classical. The art was heavily influenced by the Greek and Roman ways of art or culture.

-Landscape

The art was portrayed horizontally. This way of painting gave the artist more space and things to fill up their canvas with. This way of painting can help the setting develop, or give it a dimensional look.

The Mona lisa an infamous painting done by the most known renaissance artist leonardo Da Vinci


"The Last Supper" a mural created by Leonardo da Vinci in the 15th century. The mural represents how important religion was to these artists since it represents "the last supper" from the bible.
